Testament to Keith
Keith Jarrett takes his piano around the big cities. I think London was better than Paris. What do you think?

Winter is oeuvre
Seasonal songs are pleasing but troubling. They may be recorded in the midst of the season they describe, reflecting the season's colours and the artist's mood. Lovely. Except that when the song is released several months later, the listener is in a different mood entirely. Or songs are recorded in anticipation of a seasonal release date, which just makes you think of percussionists recording sleigh bells in flip-flops and shades. Anyway, in celebration of unseasonal seasonal music, here is Winter is Over by the musically gracious Jo Hamilton.
Broadcasting in colour
Colour me in hits the spot. And if you don't think so, you're spot's in the wrong place. The rest of Broadcast I think struggles to rise above the line. "You can trance, you can sample, having the time of your life..."

Absolute queens
Stephen proceeds out of town along the boulevard, exhibiting a degree of caution and with his face partially covered by his fedora. Listening carefully, he is not aware of any noise beyond the usual urban ambiance, with its implicit sensation of automatic weaponry being primed for imminent usage...
Absolute Greatest Queen!!! What on earth will compilation albums be called in 50 years time, when all synonyms for greatness have been used up? Queen's compilation albums include in their titles several Greatests and the usual smattering of Bests, Hits and Classics. There are several Ultimates, a Golden, a Platinum, a Mania, even a Crown Jewels. Now we have an Absolute. I don't think they've yet been Essential, Vital, Massive or Total. So in 2050, will we have the Iridium Collection? Fundamental Queen? Omnipotent Hits?
